John Hogan is retired after working in IT for 47 years as a programmer/analyst primarily working on IBM mainframes although he did branch out to UNIX and Windows.

John received his Bachelors in Science in Computer Science degree from the University of Illinois (Urbana) in 1974 and also completed two years of post-graduate studies there. John started as a dual major in Mathematics and Electrical Engineering. When John finished at Illinois, he had completed 75% of the courses and work for a Mathematics degree and 50% of the courses and work for a Electrical Engineering degree.
John completed a term of graduate education courses at Seattle Pacific University in 2011. John taught Introduction to Programming for Scholars Online 2009 – 2011. John had previously taught Algebra I from 2015 – 2017 at Scholars Online.

John interests are the Asian board game of Go and reading.
